How to Celebrate This Valentine’s Day – for Those Who Will Be Valentine Less

Just wanted to pop in on the international day of love. Personally I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day whether in a relationship or single – and I’ve been single more years than not. I just really connect with the notion of making the ones that you care about (including yourself) feel especially loved for the day. But I know not everyone is a fan when they don’t have plans with a special someone. Even if you will be solo it doesn’t hurt to try to enjoy the day some how.

  • Get in the V Day mood with your outfit of the day. This can be anything from wearing an outfit you feel amazing in to stepping out in a red lip for the day. What more excuse do you need to make yourself look and feel good? I have the perfect button down with tiny hearts all over it that has been reserved for the day lol. Not into the traditional colors? Deck yourself out in your favorite color.
  • Reach out to family and friends. Not everybody likes the “Happy Valentine’s Day!” generic text but I appreciate it! Let me clarify: I appreciate it when it is not from someone that is trying to see if they still have you on the hook and catch you at a vulnerable time. But a sweet message to your mom, sister or friend that you haven’t talked to in a while may just put a smile on their face.
  • Take time out for your favorite exercise. Whether you have plans for the evening or not one of the best ways to show love to yourself is through activity. It doesn’t have to be long and strenuous but get your heart beating and the love flowing. I am all into yoga right now and that would be my choice. Even a simple stretching session with some meditation time would be amazing.
  • Or make it your rest day. If you have been going hard all week take a night off and kick your feet up. If you have been hitting the gym hard or just been slam packed at work, take the evening to hit the pause button and check in with yourself to get the push you need to finish out the week strong.
  • Put on your favorite pajamas (or lingerie). Now this may be taboo BUT its real. Beautiful pieces of lounge/sleepwear is not off limits to single people. You don’t have to have someone to show your unmentionables to in order to wear them. Lingerie doesn’t have a be a bad word. I think dressing for yourself is important whether it is your outerwear or what you are in around the house. On the other hand you don’t have to wear things that you are uncomfortable in. I can do a big T-shirt and shorts all day but I also like things that make me feel feminine. Whatever it is for you, sweats or a teddy, put it on and have a wonderful night.
  • Get a good aroma going. Who doesn’t LOVE candles?!?! I will definitely be lighting my favorite of the moment right now – Bath and Body Champagne Toast. Nothing like a beautiful smelling house when you are relaxing
  • Watch your favorite comedy movies. Not everything has to revolve around overly romantic gestures. Get a really good laugh in and forget the often over commercialized dread of the day.
  • Go to bed on time (or even early). What better way to honor yourself by getting some good sleep! When you have a busy schedule it can difficult to get a good sleep schedule. No plan? No problem. Cuddle up with your pillows and get your beauty rest.
  • If all else fails just remember: Tomorrow candy will be on sale everywhere so there’s something to look forward to lol

Just know that whether you are Ella Mai boo’ed up or riding solo take the time to show love and give love. It is just another to be thankful for the people you care about.

Happy Valentine’s Day from The Plush Life 💗
