Self Care September
A new month is officially upon us. It is always refreshing to start a new month no matter how bad or well the current one was. With the transition into the fall coming it is time to hit a mini reboot to finish the last quarter of the year out strong. Summer flew by SO fast! I didn’t do much exciting this summer but I am looking forward to fall and winter. My early November trip will be here before I know it and as the holidays roll around I will be able to be surrounded by my closest friends and family.
Self Care September, creative right? lol Self care has been such a buzz word these days but something that I think is important. Self care is so personal and it looks different for everyone. We all know how we as humans can put so much work behind making sure others are okay that we don’t take care of ourselves. Whether you are single, married, have children or just have yourself to worry about making sure that your tank is full in whatever way that is important to you is crucial to living your personal best life. Cliché but true you can’t pour from an empty cup, and that doesn’t benefit anyone including yourself. Practicing self care also helps in those times where you might be struggling in a certain area or two (or five but who’s counting). It helps you to refocus and really push through when you take the time to step back and re-center yourself.
I want to take intentional time this month to do just that: re-center. I want to get back to start healthy habits that I started a while back that have fallen to the wayside. I also want to start new routines that I can really hammer down these last few month of the year and take into the next. The next month I will be posting updates on what I chose to focus on for that particular week and why. Some of the areas I want to really focus on for the month are
- Mental Self Care
- Emotional Self Care
- Physical Self Care
- Spiritual Self Care
- Financial Self Care
- Personal Self Care
- Career Self Care
This is only a small list and I might not get to them all in just the month of September. I really want to make sure I give however long I need to each so that I am getting what I need and continuing it as part of my lifestyle. Just wanted to pop in quickly and share my intentions for upcoming months. I want to be very intentional about my efforts of taking care of Patience and not just for September but year round.
This is a great time for all of us to check in with ourselves. What is your definition of self care? Have you done a good job of practicing it lately? What are some of the areas you have done great with self care this year? Any areas you need to improve on? Share below and let’s all find some way to make this month #SelfCareSeptember.

I absolutely loved the title of the blog. Self-care September. I was tickled by your response to your list of proposed self-care topics-when you said that was your shortlist. However, the fact that you can now prioritize and determine where you would like to begin and share your journey will indeed help others. Unfortunately, more often than not, those of us who know that “to whom much is given much is required” at times have to operate from a cup that’s not always full. For me, it is during those times that I pray God’s strength. I will make sure that I am considerate of the me time that I need and thank you for the reminder to make it a priority in the midst of everything else.

Thank you! Yes it actually is quite a hefty list lol! But trying to work on keeping the list ever evolving. We often times put so much emphasis on what we give to others not realizing it’s been a long time since we have given anything to ourselves. It’s so important to our growth! Love on yourself sometimes!

My absolute favorite form of self-care is turning my phone off, sitting my the fireplace after a nice, hot shower and covered in a blanket, reading a good book. Oooooomg. Best ever. Lol. I’m easy to please. Haha!

Lol! Hey nothing wrong with that!!! I’ve found that I’m at most peace when I’m without my phone. Years ago I used to wake up in the middle of the might faithfully to check social media and my messages. I night I said “you have to stop this.” And banned myself from doing that. I mean really it doesn’t get much better than a hot shower, fireplace and an amazing book to take you away!
